Is Going Vegan OK For Your Children?

Is Going Vegan Dangerous For Your Children?

You want the best for your child...
shouldn't that include food?
I am absolutely AMAZED that anyone -- especially registered dietitians -- have the gall to question whether or not going on a vegan diet is a *safe* choice for parents of small children! Are you KIDDING ME?? Take a good look around you - those little puffballs you see dragging along behind mom in the grocery store are unhealthy, unhappy, and on a fast-track for an early death. I actually witnessed a mother in our local WalMart dragging her child away from the grapes the girl was begging for -- towards a display of high-fructose-infused graham crackers!! :-O

My child is 27 years old, and a happy, healthy -- occasionally cheating -- vegan. She is, "as Vegan as she wants to be"... but guess what? She is one of the best looking 27-year-olds I know with clear eyes and skin, a healthy weight, with a wonderful understanding of what foods makes her feel good or bad.

BUT, that didn't happen until 2010, when I was an unhealthy, unhappy, little puffball who happened to see the light and "volunteered" my family to try eating a vegan diet with me. The changes -- in ALL of us -- have been nothing short of amazing! I encourage all parents to give it a try. Be careful, of course. Buy the kids vegan hotdogs, "chik'n" tenders, and soy yogurt to be sure they get their protein. Give them a gummy-vitamin, so they get all the necessary vitamins and minerals. But for heaven's sake - DON'T be afraid to try!!
