Creamy Pea Soup

Recipe Creamy (Yellow or Green) Split Pea Soup

A nice bowl of warm soup just makes you feel good! For this recipe we used the yellow split peas because we like the color, but you can just as easily use green. Take some of your bread dough - roll into softball-size balls, bake for 10-15 mins at 450 and make little soup bowls to serve it in - yum!

Strain/rinse peas, then place in soup pot. Cover peas with cool water (1 1/2 to 2" over the level of peas)

Chop 1 large onion, add to pot.
Add spices:
2 cubes Vegetable Bouillon
1/2 to 1 tsp Sea Salt
1 Tbsp Garlic Powder (or 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced)
1/8 to 1/4 tsp Cayenne Powder (to taste)
Sprinkle Crushed Red Pepper

Cook at a slow boil for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.

Serve with (or in) warm bread.
